 Product Description

GYEON Q2 PRIMER

Q² Primer is an ultra-light finish and SiO2 primer. It provides superb pre-coating surface preparation and an incredibly glossy finish. Its main aim is to perfect the finish on the paints which are hardest to work with, dramatically reducing the risk of scratch marks during the final wipe off before coating. Q² Primer leaves a smooth and slick surface, ready to coat.

CLEANS AND PREPARES ALL TYPES OF PAINT

Q² Primer is a unique formula preparing the paint’s surface before coating without the need for any product removal. It will provide incredible gloss and a clear, high quality finish, ready to be coated with any quartz coating.

ADVICE ON APPLICATION AND PRECAUTIONS

Work with a polishing machine of your choice. Spread at low revs. Work until fully diminished at medium revs. Wipe off with a high quality microfiber. If you’re willing to coat immediately after use, wipe surface with Q²M Prep after at least 15 minutes after Q² Primer has been used. Coating might be applied directly on Q² Primer without Q²M Prep wipe down after 24 hours.

  1. Leaves a very nice finish...

Posted by KF on 9th Feb 2018

This one was kind of an odd bird, have had it on the shelf for a while now but the logistics involved in using it just never quite fell into place. As an ‘SiO2 primer’ polish before coating , it apparently leaves an SiO2 ‘base’ on the surface while also acting as a fine finishing polish. If left to ?cure? for 24hrs after use, it also eliminates the need for a prep wipe-down before applying the coating. A coating can be applied as soon as 15 minutes after using this polish, but requires the usual wipedown with something like Gyeon Prep or similar.

Regardless of the theory behind it, had some extra time before applying Gyeon One to a 2018 Lunar Silver Metallic Honda HR-V so why not make it an ‘All Gyeon’ exercise and finally give the Primer a shot. As this was a pretty much brand new car that had somehow avoided the horrors of ‘dealer prep’, there was very little in the way of correction needed after clay so using Flex 3401 w/ black finishing pad, I fired it up and went at it.

The HR-V is such a delightfully small vehicle and the silver paint was nice and easy to work with w/ respect to Gyeon Primer. After spreading, speed 4 and about 4 passes left nearly no residue on surface and wipe-off was a breeze with a Rag Company Wizard towel. It left a very slick and glossy finish; I liked it quite a bit. May as well add that these Wizard towels are quite nice as well, 360gsm is a nice ‘tweener’ towel, useful in a variety of situations….and this was one of them.

It really doesn’t take much product to get the results with Primer, 2 small dots on a 5.5” pad was more than enough for each section. It worked well, diminished quickly and left a great finish. I think when using Gyeon coatings in the future (I have high hopes for Syncro after using it…time will tell) I’d work Gyeon Primer into the mix if at all possible. I’m not sure of the ‘primer-ish’ benefits if you wipe down before coating sooner than 24 hours and obviously, even after 24hrs sitting a light dusting of the surface is likely a good idea, but all in all I really liked how it worked and the finish it left.

Can’t really compare it to other ‘primer-polishes’ as Gyeon is the only one I’ve used, nor would I use it under another brands coating; although it’s possibly not an issue I have seen anecdotal evidence that cross-pollination between brands can sometimes lead to sadness. All in all, a nice experience with this product and will probably keep some around for when the logistics/timing allows for its use. It left a really nice finish, albeit in a situation that did not require much cut. Will have to try on black paint sometime to really see it’s capabilities/limits. Certainly not the cheapest game in town but 120ml will likely get ya through the average sized vehicle so not that bad.
